Purpose
Probability Cards teaches combinatorics, probability distributions, Monte Carlo simulation, randomness and sampling error using the most familiar random object there is: a deck of 52 playing cards. Its goal is to build intuition. Students can predict a probability, compute it exactly, simulate it, and see where theory and experiment agree and where they wobble.
Who it is for
- Students meeting probability for the first time.
- Teachers who want live demonstrations of the law of large numbers or sampling error.
- Self-learners moving from formulas to programming simulations.
What it is not
It is not a gambling website, a game, a betting simulator or a social casino. There is no money, stake, prize or virtual currency anywhere on the site. It provides no strategy, betting analysis, bankroll advice, real-time assistance or opponent analysis, and it will never link to or advertise gambling operators. The five-card pattern names are used only as labels for groups of combinations that can be counted.
How it is built
The site is built with Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and Recharts. The mathematics lives in a separate, tested engine and runs entirely in your browser. The card artwork is original: drawn with CSS and plain text symbols, and not copied from any third party. See the methodology for details.
Who runs this site
